ANDREW SHEPHERDSON


Andrew Shepherdson is an experienced structural building surveyor and chartered professional who is involved in many aspects of Building Surveying disciplines, including; building pathology, building science, construction design and engineering, dilapidation and schedule of condition surveying. He has over of 18 years’ experience in construction, structural building surveying, design, construction monitoring, and damage assessment of various structures including residential and commercial properties.

Andrew is registered with the New Zealand Dispute Resolution Centre (NZDRC) and regularly acts as a building expert in construction disputes. He has been engaged as an expert witness for barristers, lawyers, and advocates and plaintiffs in claims on a number of occasions and is considered a credible expert witness due to his experience as a building pathologist with diverse construction skill sets. In addition to providing expert services, Andrew has proven specialist skills in conservation and heritage, project management, construction design management, insurance related matters and contract administration and has successfully managed a significant number of new construction and reinstatement projects in the UK, Europe and New Zealand.

Prior to immigrating to New Zealand from the UK, Andrew was employed in the high net worth and major loss adjusting division acting for various insurers as a senior consultant structural building surveyor, subsidence engineer and project manager.

He has been at the forefront for setting up working teams in flood disaster hit areas and was one of the first structural building surveyors who entered the devastating flood damage areas in the north of England where he managed the initial surveying, scoping, design and project management, and management of contractors of 100s of damaged properties.

  • Building Surveying Bachelor of Science Degree with Honours
  • Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (AssocRICS)
  • Chartered Construction Manager and Building Surveyor (MCIOB)
  • Registered Construction Design Management Co-ordinator (CDMC)
